Prairie Stories
Every now and then, you’ve just got to do something with absolutely no purpose other than keeping yourself limber and amused. Thus, I have gotten hold of season seven of Little House On The Prairie, and I will be returning to prairie recapping for one episode. (Or a two-parter, if appropriate.)
So now, I have to decide which one. This is the season starting with Laura getting married, so you have among your choices her wedding, in which Eliza Jane had her heart broken by Harv. (Oh, Harv.) Also in this season is the story of Albert and Sylvia (which gave birth to the amazing TWoP thread title), but honestly, I’m not sure about recapping a rape story.
Here’s the list of episodes available for recappage. Pregnancy? Menopause? Weddings? Violence? The appearance of Itty-Bitty Bateman? Blindness? Cured blindness? Interfaith marriage? I am accepting recommendations, and hope to do the recap within the next week or so.

I have always loved the episode with Mary’s hubby getting his sight back. Her fear that she wouldn’t be beautiful enough for him and that they wouldn’t have blindness in common kind of made me choke up.
Plus, I had a crush on him. He was hot.

This is a tough one. So much cheesy goodness to choose from. One of my favorite episodes is The In-Laws, for some forgettable childhood reason. However, I think you should choose an episode written and directed by Michael Landon as those were always the sappiest and most overwrought.

I love all Little House recaps, but the menopause one sounds pretty awesome to me.
Side trail…I’m sure you’ll be covering TAR someway, somehow, but on which site? Here, NPR, TWoP? I’m just getting antsy for the new season to start already.

TAR and Survivor coverage will live here, unless there’s a special reason to do something at NPR (or, for that matter, MSNBC).
My understanding is that TAR will continue to be recapped at TWoP, and without giving anything away, I’m just going to say that you’re going to be in just about the best hands in which I could have left you. So I’ll be over here, but you’ll also be well covered over there.

Adam gets his sight back. I vote for that one too.

I love the one where Adam gets his sight back, but “Portrait of Love” is just so much emotional wreckage in one episode, I have to vote for that one.

Kinda torn between Oleson Versus Oleson because I have vague memories of Pa trying vainly to care for the children & Come, Let Us Reason Together simply because I liked Percival.

Oh, man. This season has so much snarky goodness. I would love to see a recap of Thylvia, but can understand if you don’t want to recap a mime rape.
My vote is for either LIW (”He calls me Eliza Jane”) or Divorce, Walnut Grove Style (did they use magic marker on Melissa Gilbert’s face in place of mud?).
Hmmmm….then again…Come, Let Us Reason Together has so many horrible stereotypes that it might be a hoot to recap (Nellie serving ham, for starters).

I never watched the show up to those later seasons, but the episodes Beth mentioned sound good.

Oooo, I’m excited. I love the “You’re a Jezebel and worse!” re-cap at TVWOP.
I vote for Sylvia but if not, I’d vote for another episode that centers around Albert’s grim love life, the one with the pen pal. The one where Caroline thinks she’s pregnant would also be a great choice. Not as great as the one where she scratched her leg and almost died from an infection, but still pretty awesome.
Did anything good ever happen to anyone on the praire, ever? Why did they all love Walnut Grove so much when it was nothing but tragedy 24/7? If it wasn’t anthrax or typhoid or blindness, it was kids falling in wells or getting orphaned or freezing to death or being beaten or raped. Praire = scary.

Oh, thank you, MissAlli! I think it has to be To See the Light. It just has so many snarkable scenes.
Second choice is Come, Let Us Reason Together, just because it is so ridiculous.

Snark-o-rama! “Come, Let Us Reason Together”. Please? Please?

How fun! Thank you for being willing to do that. Adam and the Prance of Sight does have tons of snark worthy scenes, as well as the wooden angst of Melissa Sue Anderson. That would be a good one.
I’d suggest LIW part one and two aka Eliza Jane Gets Harved because that one has the rare honor of being one of the times Landon went out of his way to absolutely shred history. Admittedly, all of the episodes tend to involve that, but in this instance he actually took an event depicted in the books and blew it sky high.

So much snark, so little time! Sylvia would be my first choice, but believe me, I understand your reservations. So if Sylvia’s out, I think I’d have to vote for either LIW or To See the Light. Can’t wait to see your recap!

Sylvia is the Little House episode that changed my life. I was completely confused as to why everybody was angry at Albert and, after my older sisters started teasing and laughing at me, I demanded that my mother tell me what was going on. A few days later, my mom and I had the sex talk.

As a Devotee of Laura Ingalls Wilder, for me, Albert and many other characters just dont exist because I hated what alot of what Michael Landon did with the books. Yes you have to stretch it but NOT THAT MUCH – particularly the Albert On Heroin episode. That did it for me. AND ALL OF THOSE EXTRA KIDS!!!! Sheesh
But I did enjoy the episode about the tornado because much of that really happened. Almanzo was injured, Laura lost a baby but THE PLATE , , the PLATE that made it through was true and I could imagine Ma using it to bring Laura back from despair
When he kept it simple, Michael was a genius, but when he tried to fabricate drama. . forget it . ..
