Crazy-Busy Week Continues At The TWT Offices

I have always been really, really weirded out by how romantic Hollywood thinks it is to break up weddings, and everyone I know who likes Grey’s Anatomy is sick of listening to me talk about how disrespectful it is of the concept of being married. I have gotten it all off my chest over at MSNBC.com, so read about that here.

Adventures In Comments

I don’t always get around to answering questions and responding to stuff that comes up in the comments, so I thought I’d try to knock out a bunch at once. Except for today (when I had enough free time to share songs sung by Neil Diamond impersonators), I’ve actually been wildly busy lately in the best way, but there’s a bunch of stuff I meant to get back to, so let’s go.

One More Neil Diamond Thing

When you have your own site, one of the advantages you enjoy is that you can share things simply on the basis that they amuse you.

The setup for this clip is almost IMPOSSIBLE to do in a sensible way, but I will just say that it plays over the closing credits of…this horror comedy? About Arbor Day? Anyway, it begins with an elf singing the praises of trees (I know, just…go with it), but then at the fifteen-second mark, it becomes outrageously awesome when Neil Diamond shows up for absolutely no reason except that site pal Jane Wiedlin’s Boyfriend really, really needed to do his Neil Diamond impression. Which I think is quite excellent.

I swear, this is only like a minute long.

Awesomeness Wednesday: 04.30.2008

I am not always a big fan of early black-and-white TV comedy, I will admit. There are times when I look at old Milton Berle clips and think, “I am not laughing now, and I refuse to believe I’d have laughed then.” But while perusing the list of the 50 Greatest Comedy Sketches Of All Time, I came across this divine piece of work by Sid Caesar and Nanette Fabray. Live TV, ladies and gentlemen.

I only wish YouTube had the Nichols & May “Grief Lady.”

Second up for Awesomeness Wednesday is my beloved Moonlighting. In this episode, Maddie and David have just watched as a van explodes carrying, it seems, a fellow by the name of Clark who earlier faked his own kidnapping. The other storyline of this episode, however, which is much more important, involves the fact that earlier in the episode, they made a bet that David could not act like a mature adult for a week, which included absolutely no singing. If she loses, she has to limbo in the office; if he loses, he has to fire two unnecessary employees (one of the show’s running jokes was that as cold as she was supposed to be, she could never actually bring herself to fire anyone, even with the business losing oodles of scratch). The second half of this clip is more important than the first. I adore it.

Not part of Awesomeness Wednesday but functioning as an extra bonus is this Little House On The Prairie fan video — YOU HEARD ME — which must be seen to be believed.

Wow, Paula Abdul

I didn’t really think I had it in me anymore to be shocked at anything that happened involving Paula Abdul, but I will freely admit that last night’s incident, in which she began critiquing a performance that hadn’t happened yet, gave me pause.

The Time Is Here To Discuss Survivor

Previously: HA HA HA HA! And also: TEE HEE! And also: CHORTLE! Plus: Pardon me while I FFFFFFT I CAN’T HOLD IN THE GIGGLES! Wow, I’m mature enough for, like, three ten-year-olds. (Okay, plus another somewhat younger child. Be quiet.) In other news, Ozzy got the boot, while sitting with an idol in his possession. Well, not his immediate possession. At the moment of his elimination, the idol was actually back at camp. HA HA HA! Okay, okay. I know. Laughter is the best medicine, but you can’t take it all day. It’s like macaroni and cheese in that way.

Is It Wrong To Love An Ad This Much?

If you watch any MTV (as I did during last night’s pairing of The Hills (which I apologize for watching) and The Paper (which you should apologize for not watching, because IT IS GREAT), you get a lot of exposure to the new Nike Sparq ads. And I have to admit, I adore them. I think they’re funny, interesting, well-done, and entirely effective in creating exactly the feeling they’re going for. When this one gets to “my quick and my fast had a baby named Speedy,” I giggle out loud every single time. I love these.

Tiding You Over, Survivor-wise

The regular post (in which we discuss Survivor!) should go up soon, but until then, enjoy my detour over to MSNBC.com for a discussion of how the horribly boring “fans” knocked the air out of the season. Let’s really dislike Natalie!

Unlikable “Fans” Suck Life Out Of “Survivor”

Today In Me, Me, Me

Twice more to Vulture, once to expand further on Miley Cyrus, and once to return to the topic of Baby Mama. Oh, birthing puns, how I do love you!
